Rules of the Day
The guiding rule of the day is Respect.
Respect the mic – We listen when someone speaks because we listen when someone speaks.
Respect the community – Pick up your trash (and any other trash you see lying around) and dispose of it in the trashcans provided.
Respect yourself – Present yourself in the best possible manner, (Aside from the fact that the video camera is roling,) You show how you care about yourself by the way you show care for others.
FOR PARTICIPANTS
Please sign up at the registration table.
All performed work must be your own.
This is an all age event, no profanity.
Introduce yourself before you start your performance.
You have the mic for one selection or 3 minutes, (whichever comes first) to share your truth.
Enjoy!
AUDIENCE
Let the participants know when you really like something they say/sing by snapping your fingers or clapping.
No booing allowed, just having the courage to get on stage deserves, at the very least, respect. (and a clap at the end).

Description
Join the Wilson High School poets as well as other artists in the DMV area for a morning of activism and change! The 100thousand Poets for Change event is an open mic for performers of all kind, to showcase their skills in a 3 minute set. This event has been organized to bring together all artists in the DMV area to tackle problems facing the youth, such as racial profiling, bullying, lack of LGBTQ awareness and many more. Come out and support the youth, along with other organizations such as Wilson’s Gay-Straight Alliance, DC Youth Slam Team, and Metro Teen Aids. Come out, perform, learn some new things, and support the youth!
