DAY 2, Saturday, September 28: The 100 Thousand Performing Artists for Change March for Peace & Sustainability and Evening Dance Party at Arlene Francis Center

Part 1, THE MARCH: A freedom of speech event for peace & sustainability, in solidarity with events happening all over the world for 100 Thousand Poets for Change Global Event Day!

We will begin the march at noon at the Round Barn Park head through downtown with a stop at Old Courthouse Square for some performances, stop at the steps to The Sonoma County Museum for a song from the Love Choir, and then end at the Arlene Francis Center.

THE MARATHON READING:

This will be the largest poetry reading in the history of Sonoma County. Noon until it’s over. Hosted by Susan Lamont of the Peace & Justice Center and Ryan Watts.

PRE-EVENT: BUSKAR’S DAY, SEPTEMBER 7

Sat. September 7, 100 Thousand Buskers’ for Change Day, 1pm to 5pm at Courthouse Square in Santa Rosa. A rally and awareness event to call attention to the upcoming global 100 Thousand Poets for Change weekend on September 27, 28, and 29 and also bring awareness to the important tradition and cultural significance of street entertainment. 100 Thousand Buskers’ for Change Day is organized by Josh Windmiller of The North Bay Hootenanny. Performing free on the square: Tony Gibson, Orchid Killers and The Bad Apple String Band and many other musicians and entertainers. A great place to learn about the 100 Thousand Poets for Change global initiative.

This Santa Rosa Chapter event features 6 hours of bands/artists that inspire political and social change, working to create cultural awareness, and promoting diversity in music by an eclectic mixing of genres.
