Ypsi Promoter Features Area Performers to Raise Global Awareness

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Local poet and event promoter, Craig A. Combs of Sacred Star Productions [www.sacredstar.com], will present a very special music and spoken word event at the Wurst Bar, located at 705 West Cross Street in Ypsilanti, Michigan.

“100 Thousand Poets & Musicians for Change” is being produced in conjunction with the global event, now in its fourth year. The aim of this worldwide collaboration is to connect other poets, musicians, and activists around the country and across the globe to celebrate and promote peace and sustainability and to call for serious social, environmental, and political change.

The show will take place on Sunday, September 28, 2014 from 6:30-11:30pm. Open Mic Signup starts at 6:30pm, along with the Overture and opening act, featuring Wayne-Westland duo Jake LeMond and Joe May. Also featured will be SE Michigan trios Rustic Union and Cold Tone Harvest, Julie Babcock, Edward Morin, Matt Lindeman, John F. Buckley, Arnie Koester, David Jibson, Jessa, R.J. Fox, Tim and Kristi, J. Joseph Kane, and John Heath (from Trembling Earth). Combs will host and emcee the event.

All musicians, comedians, poets, and other spoken word artists are welcome and encouraged to join in and voice their ideas of what Change means to them. The Open Mic segment will follow the Variety Show. Since this is an acoustic event, large ensembles and outside amplifiers will not be permitted.

Combs, who has produced eight separate variety shows in Ypsilanti this year alone, will again join forces with the video crew of Dark Elf Entertainment, who will be filming the event and streaming the video content on their web-TV channel [www.WDEE-TV.com] following the show.

This event is open to the public, and admission is FREE. All ages are welcome until 9 pm—adults over 21 only after that. There will be giveaways and a raffle drawing, as well, and anyone who makes a donation to our Food Gatherers [www.foodgatherers.org] Food Drive will receive a raffle ticket for every food item or $5 donated. Anyone interested in participating should contact Craig Combs at craigacombs@me.com for more details or phone (954) 607-8428.

Hello everyone,

The purpose of my post today is to offer you the fruits of my last three weeks of post-production video editing, following the September 28th 100 Thousand Poets & Musicians for Change variety show at the Wurst Bar in Ypsilanti. In other words, for all of you who weren’t able to attend this spectacular, one-of-a-kind event, the good news is that you’re in luck.

Below you will find the links to each of the five (5) episodes from the event (ranging from 1-1.5 hours each), which have been permanently uploaded for all to view, download, and enjoy. I wanted to be sure I had at least one set from each performer uploaded before I sent out this announcement. Please feel free to post these video links to Facebook or Twitter, embed them on websites, email them to friends and family, and be sure to bookmark the pages for future reference.

When in doubt, www.craigacombs.com will get you to my main video website at www.vimeo.com, and from there you can browse through the over 150 videos available on my ad-free site. Or click www.WDEE-TV.com to watch all of the Sacred Star Productions videos they have streaming and archived over there. Big thanks to their film crew for shooting the photos and video footage for 100TPMC 2014! And thanks also to everyone who donated to our Food Gatherers Food Drive–You’re Awesome!

I wish to once again thank all of you who came out to the show, offered your support, and contributed so freely to this event in your own unique and special way. It’s such a delight for me to be able to look back after producing a show and savor how it (read WE) all came together to transform into such an amazing and worthwhile collaboration. I look forward to sharing with you the details of my upcoming video project very soon, where I will individually showcase recordings of local artists on a new channel but the same site, www.craigacombs.com. Until then, I wish all good things for you and yours!

Happy Samhain/Halloween!

Craig
