Society of Young Nigerian Writers-“Echoes Of Peace”
AN OPEN LETTER TO ALL SERVING STATE COORDINATORS OF THE SOCIETY OF YOUNG NIGERIAN WRITERS (SYNW).
This is to inform you that the Society of Young Nigerian Writers (SYNW) in conjunction with 100 Thousand Poets for Change (100TPC.org) Presents “WAR OF WORDS” which will be holding on 26th September 2015. The 100 Thousand Poets for Change is a United States Based organization but with a global impact. They are aimed at convening poets and artist around the world annually to organize local poetry/art event simultaneously as means to discuss real political, environment and social change within the guidelines of peace and sustainability.
The Society of Young Nigerian Writers’ partnership with them is a direct one of which all the events and activities organized by the society in every part of the country will be recorded and sent to them and archived for posterity, giving the society a greater opportunity of being recognized and familiarized across borders.
According to the guidelines, 100 Thousand Poets for Change events include poetry readings, parades, musical concerts, workshops, flash mobs, Skype sessions, art exhibitions and live streaming. The results are transformative, and a new global poetry and arts community has been created with peace & sustainability as its major mission. Poets and artists are daily being empowered to get to know
One another across borders, using real time events and social networking, and we hope that
Through the 100TPC event we can help redirect the dialogue of the day and turn the narrative of
Civilization towards peace and sustainability.
I thereby strongly enjoin all working State Coordinators or Chairmen/Chairwomen serving under the society to organize this event at least one in each state of the federation on the 26th September 2015 and also include some of the activities mentioned above with the event being recorded. It will be a great honor for the society to participate in this global event of more than 700 events in 100 countries annually since it begun in 2011. Every Organizer of the event also has the right to choose the theme of the event so far as it falls within the framework of peace and sustainability. We wouldn’t want to miss out!
