One Hundred Thousand Poets for Change (100 TPC), in collaboration with Begum Azeezun Nisa Hall of Aligarh Muslim University, organized a Mental Health Awareness Programme on 22 November 2019.

The program featured performance poetry by the students on the topic, “Power of Poetry: Giving Voice to Mental Health”. Select students, Ms. Snowy Rahi, Mr. Asif Saud, Ms. Sidra Fatima, Ms. Uzma Sarwat, Ms. Arisha Zaidi, Mr. Mohammad Anas, Ms. Zaman Ghori, Ms. Annie Jones, Ms. Afnan, Ms. Aaisha Anees, Ms. Shirin Usmaani and Ms. Hayat Fatemah presented their spoken word poems addressing various mental health and psychological issues. The poetry recitation session was followed by a Nukkad Natak titled “Maut Ka Muh Band Karo, Aatma Hatya Se Bachao” prepared and performed by the students of the Psychological Society of the Department of Psychology, Aligarh Muslim University. The play addressed the pertinent issue of the increasing suicide rates in the country. The play aimed at making students aware of various mental health issues and motivating them to battle it.
