100 Thousand Poets For Change Open Reading in the Woodstock Shivastan Garden 2021

Organizer: Shiv Mirabito
Every year for the past 11 years poets from around the world have organized poetry events for 100 Thousand Poets for Change.
Peace, justice and sustainability is our concern. This year’s global event will take place on September 25, 2021. So far over 200 communities around the world have signed up for live and/or virtual events. This is an action day for poets.
Our event will include an informal open poetry sharing circle around a sunset bonfire & a vegetarian potluck in a magical secret garden 5 to 8 pm Saturday Sept 25th.
6 Sgt Richard Quinn Dr/Hillcrest Ave.
Bright Orange cabin in back of the driveway.
Please bring poems, vegetarian snacks, drinks, firewood, & good vibes to share!
The Shivastan Poetry Ashram is a community based independent book shop, art gallery, giftshop & grassroots co-operative promoting poetry, friendship, wisdom & compassion for all beings located in central Woodstock NY.
We are NOW OPEN – please stop by any afternoon 1 to 6pm & browse the thousands of new, used & rare books; art & oddities; unusual jewelry, crafts & gifts from India & Nepal.
Frequent gatherings involve an outdoor sunset bonfire in a beautiful secret garden; an informal poetry/music/story sharing circle; & usually a vegetarian potluck. Most events are free & open to the public.
The Woodstock Shivastan Poetry Ashram was started by poet & publisher Shiv Mirabito – it is loosely based on Ed Sanders’ LES community Peace Eye Bookshop, Allen Ginsberg’s Cherry Valley Committee on Poetry, & the Spirit Catcher Bookshop on Freak Street in Kathmandu. It is the home base of the small press Shivastan Press {Woodstock~Kathmandu} which has published limited edition poetry chapbooks & broadsides on handmade paper in Nepal since 1997 by some of the most exciting poets in America. It is our 24th anniversary this year!
