THE 100TPC AND PIN INITIATIVE : CELEBRATING POETRY, PEACE, JUSTICE AND EQUITY FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

Like the month of October when Poets in Nigeria Initiative was founded, the month of September and June respectively will ever remain dear to me because; on September, 2011, the 100 Thousand Poets for Change, (100TPC) an international grassroots educational, 501c3 non-profit organization was co-founded by two great poets in the United States; Michael Rothenberg and Terri Carrion.

I attended my first ever poetry event outside the shores of Nigeria in Salerno, Italy tagged:

100 Thousand Poets for Change World Conference June 3rd – June 8th, 2015 organised by the 100TPC.

Every September since 2011, 100TPC brings together poets, musicians, and artists around the world in convivial celebrations that seek to promote peace, sustainability and justice towards raising attention to social, environmental and political change.

Of particular interest is that, I was the coordinator for the 100TPC while a resident of Abuja. On coming to Lagos in 2014 the Poets in Nigeria (PIN) Initiative was given birth to in 2015.

This year, 100TPC and PIN Initiative will jointly drum attention to the mentioned societal concerns under one banner, relieving memories of Salerno whilst appreciating brains behind the 100TPC and poets who traveled from different parts of the world for poetry, peace and sustainable development in our world.
