Poetry for the Himalayas: A Benefit Reading for Nepal

Please join us for a benefit reading for the fundraising project Healing Through Poetry: Nepal Earthquake Relief. This project strives to help the victims of Nepal’s April 2015 earthquakes heal and rebuild through poetry that at once embraces, documents, and transcends this historic tragedy. The benefit begins at 7pm at 409 Ross Avenue with a poetry reading featuring local writers Ann Fisher-Wirth, Derrick Harriell, Samyak Shertok, MFA students, and a special appearance by Peter Wirth. Refreshments are potluck style and anyone interested is welcome to bring a dish to share. Blues and roots music will be provided by Alicia Marie, and ambient music by Jeffrey Lance. T-shirts will be available for purchase, as well as books by local authors. Donations, book sales, and t-shirts sales will all benefit the relief fund. In honor of the event, free poem cards will be available at local businesses throughout Oxford.
