The Shivastan Poetry Ashram is a book shop, art gallery & grassroots co-operative promoting poetry, friendship, wisdom & compassion for all beings located in central Woodstock NY*
Frequent gatherings involve an outdoor sunset bonfire in a beautiful secret garden; a poetry open mic where everyone is invited to read in the round in an informal setting; & usually a potluck with everyone bringing vegetarian snacks & drinks to share with the many local writers, artists, musicians & those who love them, & anyone who wants to just observe & enjoy.
All events are free & open to the public.

The Shivastan Poetry Ashram was started by poet & publisher Shiv Mirabito. His small press, Shivastan {Woodstock~Kathmandu}, has published poetry chapbooks & broadsides on handmade paper in Nepal since 1997. These publications & more Beat Poetry memorabilia can be seen at the Ashram. As well as thousands of new, used & rare books the Ashram Bookshop has art, jewelry & crafts from local artists & from Nepal & India.

The Shivastan Poetry Ashram is located in Central Woodstock at 6 Hillcrest Ave. (1 block from Woodstock Town Hall, up Neher St., Next to the American Legion, in the back of the driveway).
