As part of 100 Thousand Poets for Change (Official) poets and artists all over the world organize events to promote environmental, social, and political change.

Poets, writers, artists, and humanitarians create, perform, educate and demonstrate, in their individual communities, and decide their own specific area of focus for change within the overall framework of peace and sustainability, which co-founder Michael Rothenberg stated, “…is a major concern worldwide and the guiding principle for this global event.”

As part of this global movement, those involved hope, through their actions and events, to seize and redirect the political and social dialogue of the day and turn the narrative of civilisation towards peace and sustainability.

Here in Hyderabad, poets writing in English, Urdu, and Telugu will be reading their poems to address the darkness and tyranny around. The event is organised by Shaheen, an NGO that has done remarkable work rescuing hapless women from human trafficking, domestic violence, child marriages, and other devilish practices. The following poets will be reading among others:

Hoshang Merchant
Sridala Swami
Saima Afreen
Jameela Nishat
Satyavathi
Rauf Khair

Date: September 29
Time: 3 PM to 5 PM
Venue: Alliance Francaise Hyderabad
Entry free and open to all.
