Community Oversight of Our Local Law Enforcement

A fundraiser for

The Evelyn Cheatham Effective IOLERO Ordinance

FPPC#1422712

Sunday, March 22, 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.

Peace & Justice Center of Sonoma County

467 Sebastopol Ave., Santa Rosa

After the killing of 13-year-old Andy Lopez by a Sheriff’s deputy, protest by an outraged public resulted in the creation of IOLERO, the Independent Office of Law Enforcement Review and Outreach. The office, which is supposed to provide community oversight of its county law enforcement, has been underfunded and has never been given the tools to fulfill its mandate.

This ordinance, written by IOLERO’s first Director, would remedy that.

The Committee To Support an Effective IOLERO is currently collecting signatures (23,000 needed!) to put the ordinance on the County ballot in November 2020. We are raising funds to make that possible. To find out more about the ordinance and its history, go to socoeffectiveoversight.org.

We are soliciting readers for this fundraiser. Your poetry need not relate to law enforcement (few of us have poems about that), but it should be about change. Please contact Susan or Maya to reserve a spot.

To help with the ordinance – collecting signatures, holding a House Party, etc. – please contact us at info@socoeffectiveoversight.org

To donate (we really need funds to hire signatures gatherers!),

find the donation link on the website. Thank you!
