I am thrilled to announce that Sacramento has 4 events throughout the month of September (9/6, 9/22, 9/26, and 9/30). I would also like to thank my co-organizer, Sandy Thomas, for her hard work, as well as the venues (Time Tested Books, Center for Contemporary Art Sacramento, Cosumnes River College – Lisa Abraham’s class, and Shine Cafe) who have offered space for these events, and the poets, musicians, and artists who are generously donating their time. Additionally, I’d like to thank the following sponsors – Amber Moon Press, Two Trees Indie Press, and WSD Stay Strong. Look for more information as it becomes available. A collaborative project between Amber Moon Press and Two Trees Indie Press will result in an online publication of writing and art from all participants in these events.

From Shawn Aveningo: “I had the honor of participating in one of four 100k Poets for Change events in Sacramento, organized by Trina Drotar & Sandy Thomas (sponsored by Amber Moon Press), on Sept 30 at Shine Cafe, My daughters came home from college to enjoy the show and I thought I’d send you the link to the video they recorded of me reading my gay rights poem titled “A Mother’s Dream”, which was written for my daughters. I will be posting a few more videos of my others poems performed that day (All It Took, Human, and Empty) to my channel “The Poetr Box” in the coming days. (https://www.youtube.com/aveningo)
