GirlchildVoices Fiesta/100 Tpc-Zimbabwe 27th September2014.

The Creative /Literary Arts impact on the 27th of September 2014 was made possible by Chicken Hut Harare, Girlchildcreativity Project, Vision College and participants from the Arts community, participating colleges that included Good news College, Vision College and students from Pace College all from Harare.

Participants were treated from reggae strings and lyrics from upcoming reggae conscious music Maxwell Katewere- who gave his 3 heart rending songs, touching on the equality of humanity and the need to respect one another. Participants who included vibrant poets Orator, Nzonze and Mwana Wa Afrika who also presented strong spoken word artistry and performance that left Master Class Creative Lab in awe and salivating for more. The Poets inspired with their amount of creativity.

Not to be outdone was versatile actor, film maker and creative Artist Dereck Nziyakwi, who brought in a Master Class Theatre and Performance presentation through unique games on stage focus, concentration and coordination. The Event venue came down when students were engaged in this serious artistic theatre model that left them well cultivated and motivated.

Young poets, speakers, writers gave their positive views on the for responsible creativity and Mbizo Chirasha talk about the link between Diet, food tastes and creative/artistic tastes complimenting the role Chicken Hut had played in this initiative and program.

Highly creative students from Pace College who included Pamela Munemo were serious in their presentations of Performance Poetry and gospel Music, Pamela Munemo prove to be the force to reckon in the future of Zimbabwean Poetry if not Africa- Go Girl Child GO! The sister is confident, versatile, creative and sharp.

Before the day end Participants were treated to a mix pot of poetry and acoustics which brought resonance and rhythm to the whole program. Participants later engaged in serious creative moment as were given a very impromptu creative writing session on the importance of food through short stories and poetry.

Before final closure of the day Master Class Participants got engaged in a panel discussion with the presenters who included Mwana Wa Afrika, Dereck Nziyakwi, Maxwell Katewere, The Orator and Edward Nzonze.

The poems and stories will be judged with the help of poets, writers, Chicken hut and the GirlchldCreativity Project Creative Director.

The 27th of September Poetry/Literary Arts Impact will be followed a serious motivational, literacy project dubbed Schools Research and Public Speaking Seminar that also compliments the 100 Thousand Poets for Change, a program coordinated by GirlchildCreativity Project in Zimbabwe. The public Speaking seminar will see participants researching on various topics transcending from political, social, creative, historical, geographical areas and then present them before adjudicators who have vast knowledge on the researched subject matters.

In Mid October the judged stories, poetry and speeches will be awarded prizes through an Award Ceremony that will be graced by schools, Media and business as well creative arts activists.

Introduction and Scope- the project is run coinciding with the 100 Thousand Poets for Change co-founded by Michael Rothenberg Poet, Critic and Terri Carrion, poet and editor, as well Creative Projects Experts in United States. 2013 Theme-
Defining Girl Child Voices through Artistic Fusion.

Main Objective –

2013 Implementation Method- 3 orientative, motivational, identification and skills development and inspirational workshops will be held in 3 different schools that include Morgan High, Vainiona High and Budiriro3 and Glen View Primary schools- Mentors of this workshops will include a seasoned photographer, a seasoned female visual artist, Mbira workshop and storyteller and writer and these seminars will done both in practice and they are participatory and they will be under a video shoot to prepare a visual video mobile exhibition that will be shown on the last official day of the Voices Fiesta. Poems, photographs and artistic works will be selected for an official exhibitions and recitals on the 8th of October 2013 . Such will coincide with feedback seminar between students, media and guests to the final event.

02 October – 2pm -4pm Budiriro 3 Primary School- Workshop on story telling and poetry Writing – by Aeron Chiundura Moyo- the facilitator will read his stories and poetry and partake participants in a practical writing skills session.

03 October -2pm -4pm- Vainona High School
Photography , writer s workshop- by Shoes Lambada [ Writing]and Cresha [Photograghy]- the facilitators will also pass writing skills and how you can fuse writings and photography in a bide to create photo poetry and photo stories.

04 october- 2pm-4pm- Morgan High School
Visual Arts practical workshop, Performance Poetry and Mbira- Zanele Mutema, Mbizo Chirasha and a Mbira musician-participants will be taken through a journey of visual arts inspirational process, the creativity and resonance of Mbira music and your voice in performance poetry leading to a visual, musical poetry experience

08- October -530-730 pm-First Floor Gallery
Grand Fiesta day-Small exhibition of poetry/visual works produced during workshops, story and poetry presentations by participants and young guest poets, Discussion forum/Press talk by organizers, facilitators and participants with Guests.

and she is first year student at Midlands State University. She is a song writer, choreographer and singer.She founded FAM in 2012 – a Foundation Arts Movement mentoring ,promoting and marketing young artists.She destined for greater heights .

– the Fiesta Curator and Coordinator/ Zimbabwe Producer of 100 Thousand for Change. He is a perfoming poet , widely travelled , extensively published globally.He is the Founder of many literary and creativity intiatiatives in Zimbabwe . He is the Founder of GirlChildCreativity and its Creative Director.

Kudzai Mutiti


– Assistant Fiesta Coordinator, a second year social studies student at the University of Zimbabwe. She is endowed with passion , maturity and drive. She have also worked with IIFF international Images Film Festival 2013 as a venue manager and discussant.

Tariro Kambasha-Grand Fiesta Presenter


a Young singer of 21 years with a dream to reach dizzy hieghts , a singer of dancehall , presenter and budding film maker as well as an advocate of GirlChild.

Aeron Chiundura Moyo- Writing and Story Facilitator
– Veteran broadcster , film maker , writer , faciltator with more 20 radio and TV plays under his belt . He is a widely published writer poet with 17 published novels and plays. Many of his books are being considered in the Zimbabwean Educational curriculum.

Zanele Mutema- Visual Arts Facilitator

– resilent upcomin visual artist , graduate of Visual arts from Harare Poly.She produce inspring work of art. Her have graced a number of Exhibitions in Europe and First Floor Gallery Harare.
Creasha- Photography Facilitator
– A student of Photography at National Arts Gallery Visual Arts school.
the young girl possess vast dreams in developing mesmerizing art of photography.

Shoes Lambada- Poetry Writing Facilitator


Poet , writer ,organizer and Coordinator for the Zimbabwe Poets for Human Rights. Resident coordinator of SOLARNET international , advocate of human rights. Recorded poet and well travelled poet , he was in Germany , India , South Africa , Senegal and more.

Synodia Masinyani- Vainona High Writers Club Teacher


She have passion of talent development, she leads the school into a deep and creative artistic hub hosting artists and writers. She and her school participated in a number of Literary Events.

Jeff Warara- Morgan High Writers and Arts Teacher


he is an organizer of a number of women and girlchild programmes, a graduate of ethnomusicology from Midlands State University. He leads a very inspirational club at Morgan High School.

Pamela Murambiwa-Budiriro3 Primary Librarian

– An avid, a graduate of Library Science at Harare Poly, leading the reading club at Budiriro3 Primary school. She have attended a number of Literacy and Literary workshops ,seminars and conferences.She was part of the organizing team of the 2012 international schools libraries day.

First Floor Gallery- Venue Facilitators

Strong artistic center that have showcased a number of exhibitions, official events and discussions. It have promoted a number of exchanges. Since they opened they conducted exchanges programs with American, Germany, Dutch and Italian Artists. This is fast growing cultural and artistic center.

United States Public Affairs Section- Grant Facilitator
Popular cultural, public ,media and educational diplomacy and exchange Section in the Embassy of America in Zimbabwe . Have hosted a lot of public diplomacy and education programs. Developmental ,media and arts seminars. The section has organized a number of visiting and developmental arts exchange. They have supported a number of innovative initiatives with Grants.

Day 1 GirlChildVoices Fiesta Activity Update

Budiriro3 Primary School with Legendary Shona Writer Aoron Chiundura Moyo
ShonaLiterary legend, Novelist, Writer, Poet, Filmmaker and Dramatist Aaron Chiundura Moyo opened the Girl Child Voices Fiesta – 100TPC 2013 with a bang at Budiriro3 Primary school in the high density suburb of Harare, Zimbabwe today from 215 pm to 430 pm.

The 2013 program is hive of activities with the theme Defining girlchildVoices through Artistic Fusion, shaping artistic skills and development girl child talent in schools and bring them for final day to celebrate what they created in workshops and receive certificates to motivate and inspire them horning their creativity.

Chiundura opened his facilitation by saying “ndainzi Matanda mufirimu ndabvezera” .He acted in1989 with the Great Ambuya Mlambo. He told participating primary school children that the role of the writer, poet and actor is to expose community rot, corruption, child abuse and other abnormalities like drug abuse and unwanted pregnancies.

He narrated vividly his life background which Is a trailblazer and mesmerizing, that he grew in farms where he was working, he stated grade 1 at 15 years old, and living under difficult circumstances in poor and down trodden families but all this led him to be the best creative he wanted to be, that create the super shone writer of 15 shona novels on which some of them where set books in schools, he says today some ministers and top people, business man and bankers learnt some of his books in school, books include CHEMERA MUDUNDUNDU, ZIVA KWAWAKABVA, KURIDZA NGOMA NEDEMO,WAKANDIBAYA PANYAMA NHETE.The prominent writer have also delved into children books writing.

The participating students were happy, motivated and excited to meet the Legendary Shona Literature Chekov of Zimbabwe in person, his deep, fertile, well thought folklores and tales brought the Budiriro3 Primary Library down with creative creative joy.
He intertwined his Nganos, readings with an sharp resonating instrument CHIPENDANI, the one he claim was made by his father in Zimbabwean farms of Kwekwe, children went dancing when this homemade traditional instrument was whistled that supported our theme Defining GirlChildVoices through Artistic Fusion.

After the pen whistle/CHIPENDANI and Storytelling Legend Moyo led Children in impromptu writing skills session and the outcome of the writings will be featured on grand fiesta on the 8th of October with other schools, guests , reporters at First Floor Gallery in Harare, further enhancing child participation and promotion as well as motivation. The stories created by students who were from the range of 10 to 13 years were of high quality and of good taste.

Present at the event was Pamela Murambiwa the Librarian and Writers Club Coordinator at Budiriro3 Primary School, Mrs Makolama Library Club Member,Mr Sakutukwa, Mbizo Chirasha, Kudzai Mutiti of GirlchildCreativity Project. The Program was also graced by the Deputy Head of the School.

Children who participated were chosen because of their quest to write, prove their talent and their ardency readership culture at their school and werechosen from different classes

These children will participate on the Festival at First Floor Gallery on the 8th of October.

We appreciate the role that is being played by the American Embassy Public Affiars section in facilitating grants for such, Great thanks 100TPC for involving us in annually activities that promote the poetic/story creative energy, the Zimbawean media, schools and Friends, our next port of call is at Vainona High in Borrowdale with Shoe Lambada Poet and Kresiah Mkwazhi photographer will be kleading a working on writing, poetry/photograghy fusion.

Thursday the 4th of October saw a delegation of highly talented young Zimbabweans. Kresiah Destiny Mkwazhi [Photographer and Visual Artist], Mbizo Chirasha [Coordinator and Project Curator], Robson Shoes Lambada [Prominent Young Poet, writer and Coordinator of Zimbabwe Poets for Human Rights], Kudzai Mutiti[Assistant Coordinator] arriving at Vainona high school during mid day to meet their host Ms Synodia Masinyani the patron of the Writers Club at Vainiona and 12 female participants to take part in Photo –Poetry-Writing Skills and motivational workshops facilitated by Shoes Lambada and Kresiah Mkwazhi.

Upon arrival Mbizo Chirasha narrated the important of the mission and the whole scope of the project.

Shoes Lambada gave a classic lecture and presentation on issues that have to deal with poetry composition, aspects of poetry writing, clichés and basics on performance poetry. He ended his mesmerizing lecture with his string Shona Poem Tariro Mwanasikana Tarira. Participants proved their satisfaction by participating fully during the proceedings.

Kresiah brought a very new participatory dimension in a photography skills and motivational presentation. She narrated her journey in the arts industry and that she was happy to be studying Fine Arts at the National Gallery Arts School. She challenged students to explain what they think photography is and why it is important.

The participants were given inspirational time and were taught practical in handling a camera and focus. Whilst writers concentrated on writing their poetry peaces to be coordinated with photographs for the exhibition on the 8th of October at the First Floor Gallery. So this will be a Photo poetry exhibition, poetry, story performances and testimonials to be given as feedback of the creative ,fusion , skills development and motivational workshops.

The day ended with hope and results of what was expected. The facilitators touched the souls and creative minds of children. It is important for writers, poets and artists to engage students regularly as extra -curriculum programs that will assist them to realize their potentials, shape the future of their talents and we create then a creative community.
